A metaphorical opiate used for the treatment of cognitive dissoance, especially when faced with overwhelming evidence to one's firmly held beliefs. A portmanteau of "nope" and "opium"

The effects of nopium include, but are not limited to: outright denial of fact, redefining words, extreme emotional displays, use of chants, not addressing/ignoring counter-claims, and denying opposing information as genocidal. Often causes hair to change color to unnatural shades such as pink, blue, green, etc.

Usage is prevalent among college students and where safe injection sites (safe spaces) exist.
