newsance

The first person you hear from whenever an important news story breaks. Having idolized news anchors like Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper, the newsance relishes every opportunity to experience the awesome wave of self-congratulatory importance that derives from delivering a novel news story. The newsance recognizes this as a cause greater than oneself and, as such, will go to great lengths to inform every last one of his/her friends about a breaking news story--at any time of day and by any means necessary.
*Phone rings at 3 a.m.*

John: What in the hell... *yawn*... who's calling so late?!
Phyllis: John! My goodness, have you heard? HAVE YOU HEARD?! Oprah just announced she's quitting her show! 25 YEARS!
John: Uh... gah, is this Phyllis again? Do you really have to call so late?
Phyllis: It's Oprah! This is, like, a historic moment! I just couldn't bear the thought of you waking up to it in the morning, having to deal with it all alone.
John: Listen, Phyllis, I know I've always called you my friend, but no longer. *hangs up*
John's wife: Phyllis, right? Jeez, she's a real newsance.

Fox Newsance

The annoyance you feel when a valid organization like Planned Parenthood or ACORN or the NAACP ( all non- whites in general) is being harressed or misrepresented on Fox News. This feeling also arises whenever you hear the "Fair and Balanced" promo commerials on Fox News, because you know thats a right out lie.
Fox anchor ( blonde attractive pyscho): Planned Parenthood is forcing women to get abortions weather they want to have the baby or not, and black people are scary. This and more after these commerials.
Viewer: What bullshit, this is such a Fox Newsance.

A subtle distinction or variation between an item or idea dat is "fresh off da factory floor" and one dat is so gently used as to be virtually indistinguishable from da aforementioned one dat had never been in service.
You can often get a considerable price-discount on eBay for a totally-unused item dat simply comes without its original box; da item itself is actually just as good as a crated one dat's straight from da warehouse, of course, but some overly-picky buyers are turned off by this insignificant newance, and so da perfectly-pristine item may still not be considered to be quite so salable as if it included its fancy-schmancy shipping/display-carton.

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”

Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
According to the boffins downstairs, the murderer used a serrated blade.

Pee Calculus

When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
I saw Satantango last night, wonderful film but by the 5th hour I had to start doing pee calculus.
