The term originates from the indie game 'MOUTHWASHING', created by the indie company 'Wrong Organ', where one of the characters consistently avoided taking responsibility for their mistakes.

Mouthwashing

The act of ignoring or playing down the severity of a situation, specifically in relation to abuse of people or abuse of power.

The term comes from indie horror game of the same name in which all of the events that occur are a direct result of inaction when abuse comes to light.

Mouthwash, as a product, is inherently useless when used by itself, as it is only capable of temporarily masking the smell of poor oral hygiene and not maintaining proper hygiene or fixing the cause of the smell.

Daisuke (Mouthwashing) 

A kid (On their early 20s) whom parents sent him because the only thing he did was blacking out in parties. He is a intern and he over all was the most oblivious but also the most hopeful out of the whole cru of the Tuplar from Mouth washing (game). Anya mostly hates Daisuke in a sibling way but overall everyone loves Daisuke (She loses to many board games).
This downfall is when he wanted to fix a vent and then got severally injured which was going to lead to a slow and painful death but Swansea (Mouthwashing) sped up the process by putting him out of his misery with a axe.
Also, he is a confirmed gooner....
