In The Air Tonight
The first single on Phil Collins first record in 1981 and his first ever single. Urban legend has it that the lyrics were telling a story of how Phil was watching somebody drown but was too far away to do anything, however he saw somebody close enough that could have done something and didn't. Then, Phil invited the guy that wasnt drowning to one of his shows, gave him a frontrow seat, and sang the song directed to him. while the stories may vary, Phil himself claims the songs lyrics were random and the stories are all fake.

When a person, typically a male youth, overcompensates for low socioeconomic status by listening to hard rock or rap and getting tattoos, attempting to portray himself as an alpha male, when in fact he is subservient in the business world due to his poor education and low IQ. He is, in essence, socially and economically subservient, despite his outward rebellion. Hence the phrase: his cheeks are in the air.

Normally a juggling metaphor that is part of the reference to “too many balls in the air” referring to the idea that there’s a lot happening all at once, but can also refer to a person who is gutless and whose balls have fallen off and floated away.
I was talking to the boss the other day when I looked up and saw his balls in the air, just slowly floating away into the sky above us like little hairy helium balloons!
