Much like a golden retriever, gotrievering is the act of actively obsessing about the presence of another person or people, most often when the person who is gotrievering has been isolated and is desperate for human contact, frequently resulting in scaring off the person or people that the obsessed gotrievering person is paying way too much attention to; causing more isolation due to gotrievering.
Today I realized I hadn't had any human contact in weeks, so I tried to make a new friend at the store by giving her too many compliments that when she ran away from me I realized that I was gotrievering her so I just went home and cried instead.
