Focal point

A singular point where the athlete is focused on throughout an entire jump, space, or period of time. Example: The barrel in barrel racing, a Copaw’s flag in an agility course.

All of the copaws for this competition have little red flags to act as the focal point.

fecal point

The exact point in time when a plan, business, military operation, or other human endeavor falls apart and heads toward failure. The point when everything turns to shit. Opposite of "focal point" at which everything comes together.

United States military operations in Iraq passed the fecal point long ago.
Rep. Mark Foley's political career reached the fecal point when the news media published his e-mails and instant messages to Congressional pages.
My life will reach the fecal point when my parents see my grades this semester.
