The biggest
cheating scandal in the history of
Minecraft.
Dream finally admitted that he cheated during some of his
Minecraft speedruns—most notoriously, his
1.16 Minecraft speedrun. Dream revealed he was using plugins that gave him an unfair advantage.
He denied it for months, manipulated his fanbase to attack those who disagreed with him—attacked, sent death threats, doxxing—and even went to the extent of hiring a supposed “Harvard-trained astrophysicist” to help him write a paper, however the report concluded that it was likely he did cheat, effectively backfiring his defence. The timing was also odd, considering he posted it six months after the scandal took place, and immediately after his
1.15 speedrun world record was rejected.
In admitting he cheated, he also ‘apologised’, however it wasn’t really an apology. He blamed the modder he hired, as well as the moderation team. He has maintained his innocence, claiming it was an ‘accident’ and that he had the mod on and didn’t know about it until later. He has since deleted the pastebin.
The response from those who aren’t diehard Dream stans has been
one giant scoff. Many
people compared this situation to John
Swan, led many to the conclusion that Dream did cheat on purpose, and raised suspicion as to the overall authenticity of his
YouTube channel.
