Chanatera

A female that is usually of Hispanic/Latina descent or any other ethnicity that: acts, dresses and talks like she's black (usually found in the ghetto). Have really curly hair that they straighten and flatten in the front of their scalp. She usually hangs around the African American crowds and is easily spotted because of her lighter skin color. They are also known as African American posers.

Maria is a chanatera, look at her with the corn rows on her hair and trying to talk to the black guys. She can't even speak English.

Chanate has come to mean COFFEE. In California prisons, Chanate (pronounced CHA NA TAY) was first used by Hispanics / Mexicans to refer to coffee, but has become the common term for coffee by all inmates. It probably stems from the word "dark" or "black" as it has been used to refer to black inmates; however, it's current EXCLUSIVE use is for coffee. If you called someone a "Chanate" no one would no what ur talking about.

Chicano/ Hispanic slang word used to explain a black cup of coffee. Origin of the use of the word comes from the Southwest Prison System.

Creeper loves to get up early and make himself a fresh cup of chanate to enjoy with his honey buns he got from canteen.
