Born Buffy Anne Summers in Los Angeles, California, Buffy is the descendant of a long line of vampire slayers that stretches back to at least the Dark Ages and probably much further. In 1997, she moved to the town of Sunnydale, California, the so-called Hellmouth. There she defended humanity from the evil schemes of The Master, Mayor Richard Wilkins III, Glory, The First Evil and Angelus. She is currently residing in Italy.

a good instance of something so absurdly and devastatingly overrated that it has it own "academic" "field" of "studies".
(BTW, something can't be "totally unique" if it was based off a movie made in the early ninties--no matter what any of these wastoids say about what is "the true buffy". Take a hint.)

Buffy the vampire slayer is overrated; let's have Larry Sanders Studies too! I'll bet a hell of a lot more can come out of that show.

A ground-breaking show that emerged in the 90's. It re-defined feminism and girl power and influenced other tv shows, such as Dead Like Me and Joan of Arcadia. It was even followed by a spin-off series known as Angel. Truly one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was named #2 in Empire's Top 50 TV Shows of All-Time. Buffy was named #3 in Entertainment Weekly's Top 100 Characters in the Past 20 Years.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer is one of the best T.V shows of all time. Starring the AMAZING Sarah Michelle Geller (aka SMG) this show is about Buffy, a teenage slayer, who being expelled from her old school, has to move to Sunnydale, which just happens to be the hell mouth. She attends Sunnydale Highschool and develops a close friendship with Willow Rosenburg (Alison Hannigan), Xander Harris (Nicholas Brendon) and her watcher Rupert Giles (Anthony Stewart Head). They repeatedly have to save the world from never ceasing evil while Buffy has to deal with her tangled love life, including Angel, a vampire cursed with a soul, who ends up leaving the show and starring in a spin-off series Angel. This is a truly amazing show paired with a great plot that always keeps you guessing and wonderful acting.
Shannon: What did you do last night?
Sam: I was watching the season finally of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season three!
Shannon: OMG! I LOVE Buffy!!! Especially the quotes like:
Cordelia: I personally don’t think it’s possible to come up with a crazier plan.
Oz: We attack the Mayor with humus.
Cordelia: I stand corrected.
Oz: Just keeping things in perspective.
Cordelia: Thank you.
Sam: Yeah! And:
BUFFY: I haven't processed everything yet. My brain isn't really functioning on the higher levels. It's pretty much: fire bad; tree pretty.
GILES: Understandable. Well, when it's working again congratulate it on a good campaign. You did very well.
BUFFY: Thank you. I will.
GILES: I ah- I managed to ferret this out of the wreckage. Now, it may not interest you, but- (reaches into his jacket and pulls out a high school diploma) I'd say you earned it. (looking around) There is a certain dramatic irony that's attached to all this. A Synchronicity that borders on- on predestination, one might say.
BUFFY: Fire bad; tree pretty.
Shannon: Yeah, awesome show

Simply genius. It is simply genius.

A totally unique, intelligent, and captivating TV series from genius writer/director Joss Whedon, that ran for seven years on two TV networks in the USA and many other places abroad. Recognized as one of the 50 best TV shows ever made. Mr. Whedon's acumen with the "Buffy" series can best be appreciated by viewing any of the movies subsequently made by Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar (a.k.a. "The Duchess"), a second-rate actress with delusions of grandeur and an ego way out of proportion to her talent and stature.
