its an albanian word that means home land, its a word with a lot of meaning behind it.
albanians tend to have a strong love for their home land and the word "atdhe" just describes how strong that love is.
it makes them emotional talking about it and i have yet to see people who love their home land as much.
it's a beautiful and expressive word and it shouldn't be used in an offensive or joking manner.
