artifex pereo

The direct translation is “An artist dies in me”. Derived from Emperor Nero’s last words “Qualis artifex pereo” which has been debated to connotatively mean “As what kind of an artist do I perish” rather than the textbook version “The world has lost an artist in me” due to his humble use of “qualis” and the fact that he had to help build his own tomb before his death just like an ordinary “artisan/craftsman”.
As Vincent Van Gogh painted his last work “Wheatfield with Crows”, he sighed to himself deeply: “Artifex pereo... It seems that only my art will live on after my death.”

qualis artifex pereo

Nero's famous last words. "What an artist the world is losing in me." Can be said by pompous assholes who are too full of themselves as they die, I suppose.
Justin Bieber: *gets stabbed and is dying* No! Qualis artifex pereo!

Brought to public attention by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in the book on the fall of Richard Nixon, All The President’s Men, ratfucker was Nixon’s term for a political operative who sows chaos among opponents; an agent provocateur. It is thought to have originated among campus political rivalries at USC, and seems to have some usage in the US military.
Along with Nixon’s other ratfuckers, Roger Stone caused fights at otherwise peaceful Democratic Party protests to generate a false narrative that the Democrats were violent and dangerous.
