aesōterikēphonia

Pronounced ah-eh-soh-teh-ree-kay-foh-nee-ah

The term ‘aesōterikēphonia’ refers to a mental condition characterized by a lack of an inner voice or sound in the mind. It is derived from Greek, where the prefix ‘a’ means ‘lack of’ or ‘without,’ ‘esōterikē’ means ‘inner’ or ‘hidden within,’ ‘phonia’ means ‘sound’ or ‘voice,’ and ‘ia’ is a suffix denoting a ‘condition.’

2. Many affected by aesōterikēphonia have heightened memory recall of how music and voices impacted them emotionally and physically, especially in comparison to those without it.

3. Those with aesōterikēphonia often find it difficult to memorize facts related to figures and numbers. The absence of their inner auditory processing can lead to losing track of essential information.

4. A person with aesōterikēphonia may reminisce about past conversations but struggle to recall the actual voices of loved ones. This adds emotional complexity to their relationships.
