Pulled a Vince

Exaggerate; over dramatize; push something much further than it needs to be pushed in order to ensure drama surrounds you
Woman is walking through the mall in heels and trips slightly. She realizes people are watching and so she stumbles forward, bags get thrown everywhere, shoe comes off, she squeals, slides across the floor and rips her jacket. Person watching, "That was unnecessary. She pulled a Vince."

go for a Vincent

to go for a vincent actually means go take a piss.
the phrase comes from a Quentin Tarantino film PULP FICTION, in which the character named Vincent Vega (starring John Travolta), is always "oh so desperate" to use the bathroom facilities all the time.
Vincent: ...so not only i shot that guy in the face, i have a very bad luck walking out of the toilets... never consider to go for a Vincent, unless you expect something catastrophic to happen later...

Somebody else has cornered you into a really tough situation, where you must now make a major decision between two things neither of which you want in the least.
They had his balls in a vice: either take the pay cut they were demanding from him, or be fired.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
