A tongue-in-cheek word that originated in online circles as a “slur” for AI and robots. Its similarity with “wetback,” the a slang term for Latin American (especially Mexican immigrants) in the United States that is widely regarded as a slur, gives “wireback” power by association.

I was riding in a Tesla and the wireback slammed into a tree.
