Due to his unnecessary and completely false accusations lodged against the U.S. Merchant Marine in World War II, the men who served there were denied veterans benefits or even positive reputations until most of them died or were too old to have use for them. Assholes in Hollywood thought it would be honorable to make a movie in his honor in 1998, when all he deserves is an unmarked grave and obscurity from history.
