Wake Me Up When September Ends

Song #11 on Green Day's American Idiot CD. It is NOT about returning to school, this song is about Billie Joe Armstrong's father dying. This is the first song in which he confronted this issue, and I think it probably did him some good. However, I don't know him personally, so I can't say for sure. Green Day dedicated this song to the Hurricane Katrina victims at the concert I went to. A damn good song too.
Summer has come and past
The innocent can never last

"Wake Me Up Inside" syndrome

The process by which a song's title is inferred through the lyrics, even though the actual title of the song is different.

Named after the song "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence, which many nimrods erroneously believe to be called "Wake Me Up Inside." However, this phenomenon is not limited to this song only.
Person A: My favorite song is "Wake Me Up Inside" by Evanescence!
Person B: I believe the song is called "Bring Me To Life"
Person A: Shut the fuck up!
Person B: Just another case of "Wake Me Up Inside" syndrome...

wake me up when september ends

A beautiful song by Green Day on their Album, American Idiot. The lyrics were written by Billie Joe Armstrong,
And is Basically About his Father dying of Lung cancer when Billie Joe was only ten, And how he grieved his loss. Which was a great loss. This is one of the most meaningful songs we have got in today's music in My opinion
As My Memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September Ends

wake me up when september ends

a song that's really emotional originally written about billie's dad dying, NOT about summer or sept. 11 or the war in iraq or katrina BUT can be interpreted that way if you want.

a really great song but is becoming the next boulevard of broken dreams. now every radio station in the country plays this song to shit and every preppy poser idiot is screaming "i heart greenday!11!!111111 this is teh bestest song eva!!!!!! im totally teh biggest greenday fan eVa111!" when they only know this song and BoBD.

damn green day for being so mainstream.
(something that actually happened to me)

my friend: ooh, do you have green day on your ipod? me: uhh, YEAH. i have all their albums. her: omg, i LOVE wake me up when september ends. *listens to it* me: my favorite song is she. hear, listen to it. her: *listends* mm, i don't like it. *changes it back to wake me up when september ends* me: *fumes*

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.
