Intellectual laziness or ignoring any concepts that one’s not willing & able to comprehend, effectively preventing further development of an informed worldview and sadly often done with extreme pride or passion, while lacking any critical consideration or mental processing.

Andy’s a smart guy, until it comes to politics. Then he goes on thoughtopilot and refuses to even consider any points made by a member of the opposite party, regardless of merit, obvious poignance, or the positive impact it would have on his own life.

When you do something or say something without giving it any thought, like when a person is fully committed to some idea, belief or concept without fully thinking it through.

Clearly, with that knee-jerk comment about Russia, Kellyanne Conway is on thoughtopilot.
