Thoreauvo-Marxism

A critical synthesis of Thoreau’s transcendentalist individualism and Marx’s historical materialism. Thoreauvo‑Marxism argues that capitalism alienates not only from labour but also from nature and the self. Revolution must therefore be both material (overthrowing class relations) and spiritual (recovering the capacity for wonder, solitude, and simplicity). It critiques industrial communism as merely a new form of domination over nature and the individual. The goal is a society where people own the means of production collectively, but also own their time and their feet, free to wander, write, and refuse.
