Static Nomad
A lifestyle dedicated to maintaining personal sovereignty and digital invisibility. A Static Nomad rejects mainstream social media and constant digital self-reporting; they do not post their faces, voices, or any other identifying markers online. Instead, they rely on privacy-hardened tools—such as LibreWolf browsers, VPNs (e.g., Mullvad), burner phone numbers (e.g., Hushed), and email aliases (e.g., Proton)—to minimize their digital footprint. They utilize professional mail forwarding services (e.g., UPS Store) to keep their actual residential address private. Communications are primarily conducted through amateur radio bands (Ham), GMRS, and encrypted messaging platforms like Signal to bypass corporate-tracked networks. The goal is to remain invisible, avoid the risks of AI and deepfakes, and exist outside the standard digital grid.
Ever since I went full Static Nomad, I’ve deleted my socials, locked down my mail routing, and moved all my comms to radio and Signal—no more digital breadcrumbs for the machines to track
