A spoonie is someone living with a chronic illness.
It mostly refers to physical chronic illnesses, though it has been known to be a helpful term for those with chronic mental illness as well.

It originates from Christine Miserandino's Spoon Theory story, in which she explains what it's like to live with chronic illness to a friend, and uses a handful of spoons to demonstrate.
For example, daily activities that healthy people tend not to think about take tolls on people with chronic illness. You start the day with a certain number of spoons, and play your day around not running out. Socializing might cost spoons, using the stairs might cost spoons, lifting things might cost spoons, etc.
Skylar: It's a low spoons day today, I don't think I'll go out.
Fallon: You're a spoonie? I didn't know. Well, I hope you feel better tomorrow. Can I do anything for you?

A person living with chronic illness, that identifies with Christine Miserandino's Spoon Theory.
Spoonies are people that live with chronic illness; theoretically measuring personal daily abilities much as one would measure the proper amount of spoons needed for an event or occasion... sometimes having an abundance, other times coming up short.

A word used to describe a person with a chronic illness, which originated with the spoon theory that helps explain what it's like to have a chronic illness to people who are in good health.

It is very popular amongst people who suffer from P.O.T.S.; Post Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, which is a form of dysautonomia characterized by many symptoms which includes fainting, extreme fatigue, low bp, fast heartrate, hypotension headaches, low blood volume, exercise intolerance and more. It is chronic and has no known cure although large amounts of salt in the diet, drinking constant fluids, compression stockings, and medications have been known to help with some symptoms.
My favorite spoonie items are compression stockings, shower chairs, and salt tabs :)

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
Some grebo passed with Sabbath playing on his stereo.
The Poppies are at no. 17? God, a grebo band in the charts!
