sickbatical 

When an extremely overworked person contracts an illness, (cold, flu, infection etc.) the benefit of this is a forced slowdown when they wouldn't have gotten a break otherwise.
Even though the person is fighting sickness it is a positive experience used for relaxation and self-reflection.
My schedule has been so hella crazy and I got fucking walking pneumonia. It's dope though 'cause I really needed a sickbatical and just getting a break from all the fucking chaos was awesome.

A medically forced break from regular responsibilities taken by someone with a chronic illness or body limitations that may or may not involve components of enjoyment; or a break that is necessary for someone to take because the limits of their body don’t allow enough time, energy, or capacity to keep up with daily demands or desires.
Everyone kept saying “enjoy your break” but they didn’t seem to realize I was taking a sickbatical.

His medical conditions required so much effort to manage that the only way he could work on projects he was really excited about was to take a sickbatical.
