Serial monogamous 

A person who pursues depth, connection, growth and monogamy in another human being for a significant amount of time until reaching a plateau to pursue the next relationship.

A person who craves meaningful connection in a monogamous relationship in short amounts of time, whether weeks, months or years.

I’ve had six boyfriends back-to-back in the past 15 years in relationships that lasted two to three years each. I’m a serial monogamous.

Serial Monogamist 

Someone who jumps from one relationship immediately into another one.

Serial monogamists can not stand to be alone and often suffer from vast commitment and insecurity issues.

Because they jump into relationships immediately after the previous one has ended, serial monogamists typically don't take the time to reflect on their behavior or why their previous relationships failed; thus, they end up making the same relationship mistakes over and over again.

Person 1: Damn, Dustin already has a new girlfriend?! It's only been two weeks since he broke up with his fiance! I think he's a sociopath.

Person 2: No, he's a serial monogamist...

one who spends as little time as possible being single, moving from the end of one relationship to the beginning of a new relationship as quickly as possible

although the relationships in which many serial monogamists find themselves are also often short lived, the defining aspect of serial monogamy is the desire and ability to enter new relationships very quickly, thus abbreviating any period of single life during which the serial monogamist may begin to ask questions of an existential nature

Percy: Wow, I can't believe Gwyvron is already dating someone else! I thought he just broke up with Lorelai at last week's LARP after she accidentally cut off his phonytail...

Stewart: Yeah, that's the way it's always been. When he broke up with me, he started dating that hussy Lorelai within three days. He pursued her as if he were Cerberus hunting a soul fleeing across the Euphrates. I'll tell you, that Gwyvron is quite the serial monogamist.

A person who can't stand not being with someone and so goes headlong from one relationship to another without any break in between.

Look at her over there, only broke up with her ex last week and is already going out with someone else. She is such a serial monogamist.

Serial monogamist 

A descriptor for a person who has commitment issues but does not engage in cheating or infidelity. A serial monogamist likes the emotional and physical intimacy of relationships and therefore seeks partners who want a longterm romantic relationship. A serial monogamist may or may not warn their partner about their fear of commitment. (Often the partners foolishly believe they will be able to change this about the serial monogamist.)

The relationship may be short-lived or it may last a few months to years, however the serial monogamist is always holding back and if the other partner in the romance pushes at all, the serial monogamist will end the relationship swiftly and often without emotion.

Serial monogamist: I broke up with my boyfriend.

Friend: What???? You guys have been together for three years!

Serial monogamist: I know... I really liked him.

Friend: What happened?

Serial monogamist: He asked me to marry him.

Friend: You're such a serial monogamist!
