Just like Vick, he is another overhyped and
overrated player in the NFL. People seem to overlook the fact that he is just another above average running back. He rushed for only 565 yards with a 3.6 average. Sure he is a rookie back, but there are many
better that were picked after him. See: Laurence Maroney, Maurice Jones
Drew.
He is a great receiver though, but he gets more
hype than he deserves. A player 10 times his caliber is Brian Westbrook. Brian Westbrook had more than double of Bush's rushing yards (with
5.1 yards per rush)! Also, Westbrook's receiving stats are just about the same as Bush's. Westbrook also has more touchdowns. However, Westbrook does not get the
hype he deserves.
People who think they know the NFL constantly
kiss his
butt. Proof from the commentators. When Bush runs back and forth and gets tackled for a loss (which happens much more than "home run plays"), the blockers are blamed. However, when he busts one for a
big gain, which he rarely does, Bush gets all the credit.
People also overlook the fact that he is constantly tackled for a loss or no gain. However, when he makes one big play (just one!), spectators more than forgive him. Then, they start to claim him as one of the best backs in the league.
For the people who said Bush tore apart the Eagles in the playoffs, he only had 52 yards rushing and
22 yards receiving.
Just because he makes one electrifying play every 6-7 games does not make him one of the best backs in the NFL. Similar to Mike Vick, he is
popular just because he is exciting to watch.
For people who think Reggie Bush is god, please rerun all the plays he did to benefit his team. I bet you it's the same 2-3 highlights over and over again. Just like ESPN and Sportscenter, those highlights are played over and over again and
add to his
hype.
