A term coined by the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, if for when a grift was uncovered and the criminal were to face possible prosecution, the victim of the swindle would either be a) socially blackmailed to do anything about it or b) the victim's money would be hidden or physically unattainable, so as the criminal would face no repercussions
