PRN 

As seen in medical jargon... PRN abbreviates the Latin "Pro Re Nata" which translates to "as matters stand."
Nurses have told me more than once, it means "Patient Report Need" which would seem to be technically incorrect, but is much closer to the functional meaning. (1st Example)

When seen in a prescription, it means "as needed"... the same as "patient reports need" but with no further requirement to report to or consult with the doctor." (2nd Example)

"As Patient reports no further pain or weakness at left knee, no additional followup is scheduled. Patient was instructed to return to the clinic PRN."

"Take two tablets three times a day PRN for pain."

PRN princess 

A person (most commonly a female nurse) who works PRN because they do not need full-time benefits at their place of employment. They are usually supported financially by a spouse, their parents, or a savings account which allow them to do so. Majority of them have full-time commitment issues.
