The town was famous for it's horses and a young European poet Laura.
O'Marra become a slang in Texas in the mid 1970s during the Vietnam war. It was used by college students to signify their intellectual pursuits. It also have the meaning of having a free spirit like our admirable friend - horse.
Nowadays the term is widely used in the underground scene.
