Music Critic
A self-obsessed, incessantly sardonic, Dunning-Kruger-examplifying dilettante who's predicated their entire life on heckling from the sidelines. A good 95% of music critics have never picked up an instrument; let alone experienced the torturing and debilitating process of creating art firsthand. They preach from comfort; and consequently, a lack of empathy as well. They are so uneducated and out of their depth when it comes to reviewing music, they cannot reasonably offer a critique of merit or substance; tending to rely on reductive terminology to dismiss compositions they've realistically, only given a cursory listen to (e.g., bad, boring, generic, filler, *vague comparison to some irrelevant contemporary,* etc.). Their opinions are as hyperbolic and unnecessarily crass as they are disposable. Genuine, productive discourse is thrown out the window in exchange for uninsightful, slapdash, easily-consumable, banal drivel. When we were children, it was instilled in us by our teachers and guardians that we needed to retain diplomacy and respect all opinions (regardless of what experience, information or bias led to the formation of the aforementioned opinion) without reservation. These people are a sorry byproduct of that philosophy.
