Leading Off

1) Straying off of your base while waiting for the pitcher to deliver the pitch.

2) Hitting in the top position of the batting order.

3) Starting off your team's offensive half-inning at bat.
1) Mora was leading far off of first base, allowing him to get a good jump and steal second.

2) Even though he had shown little control of the strike zone, Reyes still led off for the Mets against Carpenter.

3) After making a difficult running catch to end the seventh inning, Rowand led off the top of the eighth with a double in the left-centerfield gap.

Leafing Off

When some one tells you a sarcastic remark or comment and you respond in a way that you think is funny/cheeky but does the opposite. It makes you seem weird/humourless/stupid/full of yourself/ a wanna-be etc
Sam: I am so much more talented then her!
Dan: and have you ever been on t.v?

Sam: I model and dance and omg I do soo much work its crazy I am like the next new thing! I am like the greatest people should just love me! bla bla blaa.
Dan: uhh, right.. Stop leafing off.. learn to take a joke.

To leave the lid off the blender is to invite disaster by rushing into something unprepared. It comes from the mess created by forgeting to check the lid is on properly on a blender leading to the walls getting coated in whatever it contained.
Guy 1: Dude! You didn't revise?
Guy 2: Yeah I know, I'm totally leaving the lid off the blender.
