There are two definition for this Afrikaanse Slang word.
1.It means they are bigger than you mentaly or physically
2.They think they are bog but they aren't actually.

John Grade 12:Listen to me, stop talking right now!
MattyGrade 8: All right Grootseun.

John Grade 8:Shut up you excuse of a person!
Matty:Grade 8:If you say so in deeper voice"grootseun".
