Gaytway

A person who is used as someone’s “coming out” relationship ; Somome who is used to help another person come out of the closet in a relationship, but said relationship is being used solely for that reason and not because there are any feelings involved. The person being used is unaware of this.

Person 1: ooh, did you see who she’s with? Those two girls are my otp.
Person 2: yeah I saw, but she’s just using her as a gaytway.

Person 1: hey did you see who the quarterback is with? Some fag!

Person 2: yes I saw, but he’s just using that poor guy as a gaytway. He doesn’t have any actual feelings for him. Just an attention whore seeking more attention.

When a homosexual is set on having relations/a relationship with their straight friend; assuming that they will eventually reciprocate their feelings. It is, essentially, gay layaway.

A play on the word layaway. Refering to the popular yet misguided assumption that bisexual people are "confused" and only come out as bisexual as part of a process that leads to them eventually coming out as gay. Often derogatory or offensive.
