Gatsby Post

A public social media post shared with the intention for one specific person to see. Often shared to either get a reaction/response, for stories/snaps to see if someone is lurking you, or testing if they muted/are ignoring you. Often occurring in situationships, bad break ups, ghosting and orbiting, unrequited love, or intense crushes based on a fantasy version of that person in your head.

(Put down the phone love, remove them as a follow and move on. You deserve better)
"stop checking who viewed your story" "I can't it's a Gatsby, I'm trying to see if my ex has viewed it or if he muted me"

"hey do you think is selfie is hot enough? I'm Gatsby Posting - shooting my shot by giving Tony a chance to fire emoji react o it but it has to be hot enough because if he only views it and doesn't react I will just DIE"

gatsby posting

Posting Instagram stories for the sake of reaching *one* specific person by publishing to hundreds of people,
like the Great Gatsby throwing lavish parties hoping daisy buchanan might stop by
i put out a gatsby post so she would slide into my DMs but she didn't even see the story

marina's gatsby posting so much recently, who's she trying to impress

teresa's gatsby post about gatsby posting didn't really get her the results she wanted

gatsbyposting

the act of obsessively posting vague or emotional content with cryptic captions like "missing her rn 🥀" or "some people never change" in hopes that a specific person (usually an ex or unrequited crush) will see it and care.
"Have you seen Mike's Instagram story? He keeps gatsbyposting about his ex as if she's gonna see it and respond to him its so weird. Just DM her or log off."
"She posted 'you were never mine, just borrowed time' on her story again. Full-on gatsbyposting."
