It is said to have the head of a rabbit, the body of a horse, and the legs of a wolf.

The esquilax is said to devour the souls of those who attack it.

The esquilax runs across lakes and rivers during the night and slumbers in the springs during the day.

The hunter went to a spring and found a sleeping esquilax, but the creature awoke and ran off across the waters.
