Ebeneezer Screw

(v., trans.; usu. used as a phrase, as in "Getting the Ebeneezer Screw): the act of being laid off from a job at the end of the year, just before Christmas.

"Yeah, sorry I won't be buying any Christmas presents this year; I just got the Ebeneezer Screw".
