A person who drinks heavily, and yet manages to present reasonably cogent, witty arguments without betraying just how hooked up he really is, how many prescription medications he's really on, or how many months he really spent in rehab last year.

Such are the levels of misdirection and subterfuge he employs, he may even occasionally be described by the uninformed and clinically depressed as a 'voice of reason'.
