A sudden, chaotic event that hits like the over-the-top climax of a movie, or a situation, usually involving destruction, poor decisions, and a disturbing amount of energy. Equal parts disaster and dramatic high note.

Beneath its rhetoric of discipline and power often lies a profound inability to relate healthily to pain, fragility, and human interdependence.
