"Bônjeaulé" is an old, nearly forgotten expression from a small region in southern France, supposedly uttered by 18th-century vineyard workers at the end of a long day of harvesting grapes. Some say it was a toast to good fortune, others claim it was a nonsense phrase muttered after too much wine. Linguists remain baffled by its origins, as it appears in no official records, though certain scholars argue it may have been an inside joke among traveling minstrels.

In modern times, ‘Bônjeaulé’ has resurfaced thanks to a little-known song by the Memory Brothers that has perplexed and delighted listeners. Does it mean something? Does it mean nothing? Perhaps the answer is hidden within the song itself…
