v. The act of inserting anything into the mouth. (esp. with
force).
It was originally derived from the
Latin words abico and oris meaning to
force down and mouth respectively. The word, however, never gained steam after being used by the author Horace Mann in the early 1800s. It underwent a brief revival during the
Harlem Renaissance as southern Latinos attempted to establish their own literary diction, but the movement was clearly overshadowed by the African-American culture that began to flourish. Its most recent success is due in a large part to the emergence of scat, and more specifically the messairick genre of pornography.
