An organized game played mostly on college campuses in North America. It is usually run by and for students living in a particular dorm or group of dorms near one another. The game may last from a few days to a few weeks, and it ends either on a predetermined date or when only one participant is still "alive." (The person or people still alive at the end are the winners.)
Kills are made in different ways depending on the rules laid out at an initial meeting. For example, a bop with an empty soda bottle, a squirt from a squirt gun, or even a hug may be used to represent a kill. Often, each participant is assigned a particular person that they have to "assassinate" in each stage of the game as long as they remain alive. Lists of still-living participants are often posted daily in a dorm lobby or on an RA's door.
Assassins generally doesn't have any sort of safe bases or time-of-day restrictions on kills, so participants can be tricked or trapped into a "deadly" situation at any time or place, from a mid day English class to a drunken 3 am bathroom trip. It can cause some paranoia, but is generally regarded as an interesting way to spice up dorm life, meet new people, and get involved in some ridiculous scenarios.

Get the Assassins mug.Assassin's Creed is a video game in development by Ubisoft. First shown as Project Assassin at Microsoft's X05 event, at the E3 2006 trade show, it was officially announced for the PS3, to be released in 2007 using the name Assassin's Creed. Later on, Ubisoft also announced that the game was coming to the PC and Xbox 360. The game is being developed by many of the same people who helped make Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and began production as soon as the latter was completed. The game is highly focused on crowds and parkour, which will be one of the main means of transportation while in towns.

The Brotherhood spread into many parts of Europe by the Age of Renaissance (1400-present), and eventually into the Americas shortly before the American Revolution. It differs from the Order in that members are inducted instead of being born into the organisation. The Brotherhood also helped spread the Renaissance through their ideal of free thought.
Assassins are renowned for their signature weapon, the hidden blade.
The Brotherhood was led into the 16th century by Ezio Auditore da Firenze, an Italian-born assassin who took into the Brotherhood as a child of seventeen after the murder of his father and two brothers. The execution was ordered by the spanish Templar Grandmaster Roderic Llançol i de Borja, who later became Pope Alexander VI. It was revealed that Ezio's father Giovanni was an Assassin.
The Brotherhood (and, indeed, the ancient Order) is opposed by the Knights Templar (now known as Abstergo, inc.) because of their ideals of equality and free thought. They will continue to fight against the subjugation and power of the Templar until they attain victory.
