people write things bad about emos and act like they are poisen, and everyone wants to act like all we do is cut and cry and be sad. But really they are the best people you will ever meet. They dont care what others think they are real and maybe everyone should be like this cause its better than a world of preps and bitches. they dont like shallow meaningless things and do know how to have fun with thoose who understand them. wich is other emos.

Heres what I think -
Emos arn't depressing sad little wussies with no friends. We arn't fakes. We are humans. In fact the emos I know are perfectly happy, good friends. we wear black clothes, does that make us sad little wussies? Well I don't think so. Too many people hate emos without knowing what they are.
Emos sometimes get sad but then, everyone gets sad. That doesn't make us more sad than you

Emo

People who follow the emotional hardcore music scene. Emo is a shortening of emotional and in most cases refers to the style of music. Many people beleive that all emos cut themselves, this is not true. Yes, some emos cut themselves but so do some goths, punks and people who don't follow a particukar trend. Admittedly self harmers do seem drawn to the emo scene but this doesn't mean all emos self harm, most just dress and listen to music to try to seperate themselves from the herd.
Self harming is an act commited by people who either beleive they need punishment, find some releif from emotion through physical pain or suffer from low self esteem. I used to be emo, I cut myself once or twice but only as a response to the constant ridiculing I was subject to.
Chav: Hey, emo kid! Do you slit your wrists?
Emo: Not all emos do ya know *shows wrists with no

cuts* Do you see anything?
Chav: Yeah, I see you're an emo!

Chavs group: Emo! Emo!
*Chav and large group of friends laugh hysterically and emo leaves*

emo

1) For whatever reason, a highly controversial word in youth culture and popular culture circles. Probably the definition that can be the most agreed upon is that side of post-hardcore which is melodic and accessible enough for mainstream pop audiences to enjoy. It should be taken into account that most bands who play this type of music are divorced from the art punk tendencies of many of the pioneering post-hardcore bands from the 1980s and 1990s.

2) "Emo" can also refer to the youth subculture that is centered around this particular niche of post-hardcore described in definition 1, which, much like the punk, goth, and hippie subcultures that preceded it, is identifiable by a particular fashion sense (in this case often straight, dyed black hair combed to one side to the point of being asymmetrical in appearance, also horn-rimmed or rectangular eyewear). Unlike the punk and hippie subcultures, at least, there are really no identifiable political or ideological concerns of the Emo subculture, and it is primarily defined by music purchasing habits and outward appearance. However, many members of the Emo subculture, often referred to as emo kids, are often seen as suicidal or suffering from other psychological problems, regardless of whether or not they actually are.

3) Archaically at least to some degree, "emo" is sometimes used to describe nearly all post-hardcore, particularly that which derives stylistically from the sounds pioneered by a number of bands from Washington DC and Maryland in the mid-to-late 1980s. It should be noted, though, that "emo" (then "emocore") was a derogatory term applied to the earliest of these bands by their detractors.

1) It is disputed by few that Jimmy Eat World and Braid are emo bands.

2) In some regions, the emo subculture is cause for moral panic.

3) Guy Picciotto, of pioneering post-hardcore groups Rites of Spring and Fugazi fame primarily, finds it upsetting that he is considered one of emo's founding fathers.

Emo

Ok, I really want to get this straight. The ORIGINAL definition of "emo" can be broken down like this:

"Emo" is short for "emotive hardcore," or "emotional harcore." The word "hardcore" is referring to hardcore punk music. Emo is a form of hardcore punk music, although after different "waves" of emo coming and going through the years, there are still some bands that differ from the original emo music that can still be defined as emo.

NOW-
the word "emo" is being used to describe the current sub-culture of the supposed genre of music that is emo, although this current subculture is often found not to listen to real emo music. It is actually true that the original subculture of emo looked completely different from what our perception is now.

Just because somebody dresses or looks "emo" doesn't mean that they cut themselves and act sad all the time. And if they do, it's not always necessarily to get attention. Depression is a real thing and should be taken seriously.

"Emo" kids should be given the same respect that is given to any other kind of person, because we are all people and deserve equal treatment, regardless of how we look and what music we listen to.

Emo

Emo does have to do with emotional. Mostly teens are emo. If their life is depressing, and they cut themselves (especially in wrists), they are considered emo. Just because someone wears black, dark make-up, has hair in their face, and wears skinny jeans does not make them emo. Emos are people too. They are not always depressed, they don't listen to all hardcore music, and they don't cut themselves 24/7. They do have lives. Emos usually only tell very close friends that they cut, they don't blab it to everyone to make everyone feel sorry for them. So if someone is telling everyone that they cut, then they are just doing that for pity.
A teenager that gets sad and cuts sometimes, which is considered emo.

Emo

An Emo is not neccesarily a cut-up teenager with died hair and slit wrists. Emo just stands for emotionaly unstable. However, emo is also a kind of music and emos listen to emo music a lot of the time. The majority of them are also depressed, wear similar clothes, have certain hairstyles.
She was happy and hyper but then a little thing set her off and she had a temper tantrum and goes crazy like screaming and hitting. Then she went really moody and wouldn't come out of her room for 3 days. Now she is really happy and being very well behaved. What an emo!
