nancy spungen

Nancy Spungen was originally born in Philadelphia to a middle class jewish family from the suburbs. She was extremely violent and abrasive throughout her childhood, and it got worse as she grew older (even leading to self-abortions and drug abuse). When she was 17 she moved to New York, becoming a groupie, stripper, and a prostitute. Nancy later moved to London, where she was introduced to Sid Vicious through Johnny Rotten (which Johnny later regretted). They moved in together, and Nancy introduced Sid to heroin, a drug he hadn't tried, and is often blamed for his downfall.
In October 1978, she was found dead with a single knife wound in her body. Sid Vicious was arrested for murder and taken to jail, then released on bail in early 1979. He died of a heroin overdose soon after, which might have been a suicide. He requested that he be buried next to Nancy, but her family would not allow it. Sid's mother secretly scattered his ashes on Nancy's grave soon later.

Spungus

Spungus is a fungal growth caused by gungus. One might describe spungus as 'mushrooms growths' as well. It has led to the popular saying 'Rangle Rangle Spungus'.

Spungus is also seen as a delicacy in some parts and is frequently attributed to being a prime ingredient in the gels that cause the feelings of Tongle.

"If you have Spungus, you may want to see your physician immediately."

scunger

The name for an oversized glass marble i.e. the childrens game of playing marbles.

When buying a bag of glass marbles back in the 1970's it would contain some ordinary sized marbles and a larger one. The ordinary ones were half inch diameter the scunger was one inch diameter. The one thing I can't remember is the value of the scunger i.e. how many marbles to a scunger. This word was used in north Dublin (Ireland) suburbs or "the hood" as we called it.

shunglasses

Sunglasses that someone keeps on at inappropriate times, such as during a group lunch or dinner, while talking with one person about a serious topic, or in any indoor venue. One wears shunglasses to shut out other people.
