Neurally Resocialized

1. Another synonym for brainwashing, mind-tampering, etc. Introduced in the manual for Blizzard Entertainment's hit PC RTS game, StarCraft. Refers to the Terran factions' practices of forcibly conscripting people, usually criminals ("culturally challenged persons") to serve as infantry, and wiping their memory. They are described as being "Freed from any previous allegiances or ideologies." It has been speculated that the Resocialization process is excruciatingly painful.

In the cinematic trailer for StarCraft II, a convicted murderer was being encased in a suit of Marine armor. He must have been Neurally Resocialized.

Person who uses neuroscience to persuade the public to buy miracle cures for brain illnesses, usually with the aid of colorful brain scans and terminology that most people don't know enough about to refute.

Neurohuckster Daniel Amen claims that you can prevent Alzheimer's using a method that begins with getting a SPECT brain scan in his lab, despite a lack of scientific evidence for any type of prevention of that dementia.

neuroglamorizing

Noun. The hyping of ordinary speech by the use of frequent but superfluous terms relating to the brain and brain functioning.

Instead of talking about becoming less fearful, for example, you make it sound like your understanding is much deeper and very scientific by talking about reducing activation in your amygdala.

Dogmatic materialism is so prevalent in scientific and academic circles that you find neuroglamorizing everywhere.

Saying that a reassuring tone in your voices reduces your students' amygdalar activation, instead of saying that it calms their anxiety, is neuroglamorizing.
