A portable, handheld 'communication' device (also called a cell phone) - although it is rarely used to actually communicate.
Most commonly used for: texting, sexting, social media posts, check the time, taking selfies or other pics of interest, check the temperature, get directions, track your significant other, write yourself a reminder, check your email, flashlight to get your carrkey in the hole, look up word meanings ie Urban dictionary, see your bank balance, transfer a few bucks to your friend for t
paying your bar tab, ordering UberEats delivery, summoning a Lyft ride, personal calendar, playing games such as Candy Crush while waiting for your friend to pump gas, shopping at Amazon, eBay,Wish, etc....

Near Device

Multimedia tools, gadgets and toys that approach an integrated solution, but ultimately settle for the pillars of the country America has become: Coolness and Profitability.

For better or worse, the iPhone's research and development (R&D) was driven by the questions: Can this sell and how can we sell as many as possible? This is a Near Device.

Near Devices like my awesome diNovo Mini, which gives me just what i need in terms of portability and function to control my HTPC's (Home Theater Personal Computer) but won't allow me to control my stereos or TV's. Devices like my GPS unit that only wants to do GPS. Not music and DVD's as well.

Doomsday Device, often shortened to Device, is a term used in professional wrestling to reference a tandem move in which one wrestler hoists the opponent on their shoulders so that they are facing in the same direction in what is known as the electric chair position, while another wrestler climbs the ring post to the top turnbuckle and delivers a flying attack on that prone opponent.

The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) execute the Doomsday Device on their opponents and win the match.
