Clockpunk

A sub-genre of the speculative historical fiction genre called Steampunk. Clockpunk is characterized by modern technologies accomplished using clockwork mechanisms and generally excluding steam power, electricity, and the internal combustion engine. The chronological setting for Clockpunk fiction is pre-Industrial Revoluion, whereas steampunk is late 19th or early 20th century. A Clockpunk novel might include a world, Earth or another planet, which has been so dramatically revolutionized by DaVinci's mechanical inventions that its technology rivals our computers, phones, etc., while most other factors (some combination of social structure, ploitics, customs, clothing, etc.) would remail relatively true to the 15th century.
Gears and cogs but no steam...that's not Steampunk, its Clockpunk.

A time of morning (or night), usually between 3AM - 6AM in the local time zone that requires a person to interrupt normal sleep or waking patterns for often dubious reasons. Often used in reference to extremely early arrivals to airports, or to join business teleconference sessions with participants in multiple time zones. Also see stupid o'clock.

clock zombie

When a person's life is defined by what time it is.

These people work in extremely structured intervals and never waste time. One may wonder what will become of them if a large-scale worldwide catastrophe were to occur. Their agenda and a clock are their best friends, leaving little room for an actual social life.

It is a well-known fact that most college/university students live their lives like this, making campus a very depressing place to be.
There is a definitive line between being a clock zombie, and having 1-2 weeks of hardcore study sessions berore a test.
girl: "Hey, wanna go out tonight?"

guy: "Sorry, can't... I have to study for roman civilization for the midterm."

girl: "Isn't that midterm like, 4 weeks from now? Wow, you're such a clock zombie."

Vomit clock

A mid-century trend where it was fashionable to suspend pieces of rocks and glass in color resin, often made into mantlepiece clocks. The result looks like regurgitated gelatin salad full of fruit bits. The term "vomit clock" came into popularity on a thrift store Facebook page. Any other object made this way can be called "vomit."

A commonly used phrase in Sydney, Australia ('chook' is Australian slang for chicken), meaning a great idea. Normally an unusual or ingenious idea, solving some kind of problem.
