Lowes Island

A neighbourhood in Sterling VA that likes to think it is part of Great Falls despite the fact that Great Falls is in a different county. Residents of Lowes Island will tell you that they live in "Potomac Falls", as they think Sterling is a ghetto. Although real ghettos do not have Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Maserati dealerships, Sterling has all three, as well as a Nordstrom and a Wegmans. It is likely that Lowes Islanders do not want you to know they live in Sterling because the AOL national headquarters are there.

In 2008, Donald Trump purchased the Lowes Island Golf Club, this inspired every single Lowes Islander to buy a golf cart. Loudoun County got tired of Lowes Island's superiority complex and redistricted their high school students into the same school as the kids from Sugarland Run, the poorest neighbourhood in Loudoun County. In Lowes Island's attempt to keep the poor, brown residents of Sugarland Run out of their community, a high schooler in Lowes Island must walk over 4 miles to get to Dominion High School.

Fun Facts:
There are no islands within Lowes Island
---
There is a Compton Circle in Lowes Island
---
There is a secret road behind the Estates section with steep hills, tight curves, and no cars.
---
The people of Lowes Island call the police every time someone is seen on this secret road.
---
The Trump National Golf Course has more children jousting with golf carts than actual golfers.

-------
Man - "Where do you live?"

Lowes Islander "I live in Potomac Falls"

Man - "Oh! I like Sterling, that's a nice area"

Lowes Islander - (annoyed) "Nooo, Potomac Falls"

Man - "Bitch, you live in Sterling VA!" "Get over yourself!"

-----

Lowes Islander - "Donald Trump bought our golf course"

Sterling-er - "Donald Trump bought a Ferrari, two tins of beluga caviar, and a Fuji mountain bike in a Sterling shopping center on his way to buy your golf course"

-----

Lowes Islander - "I'm so glad I don't live in Herndon where spics buy houses they can't afford and shoot each other"

Man - "Wait a second, wasn't there a gang-related shooting at a foreclosure party in Lowes Island?"

Lowes Islander - "Fuuuccckkk Youuuu!!!"

-----

Lowes Islander - "I love this place! I just refinanced my big house, I have nice neighbours, and I leased a brand-new BMW 335i!"

Great Falls-ian - "I paid cash for a house that could swallow four of your houses and still have room for a garage! My daughter's jewelry is worth more than your house, your yard doesn't even have room for a pool! Neighbours? I hate my neighbours! That's why I have gates! Don't start thinking you're one of us!!!

Long Island

I was born and raised on Long Island...I love it, but it's just a shame that the cost is rising so damn high...the gangs are becoming more noticeable..and if you aren't wealthy or on welfare..you might as well start thinking about moving ...I would also like to add, that I noticed many people claiming that Bay Shore is like a "ghetto"..with drugs on every corner, $10 blows ..etc...I have lived in Bay Shore for 39 years..and you are way off...Yes, it does have the bad sections of town, but it also has it's extremely wealthy areas as well.. I don't see these so-called $10 blow jobs on the corners..maybe at a train station once in a blue moon years back but those people are not seen around anymore...Maybe some of you who have stated about the "blow job queens" and drug users on every corner don't notice the ones you have because they are better hidden underneath fancier clothes? I may not choose certain towns for myself to live but I certainly don't call them "ghettos" or slums....
Some towns in Long Island may not be to another's liking but don't label them as trashy

Long Island

theres a big difference between wetsern LI (Elmont, Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Valley Stream, and other neighborhoods on the Queens-Nassau border) and eastern LI(Hamptons, Montauk, Port Jefferson and other areas on the East End). LI has a very diverse landscape and all different types of neighborhoods. NYC is the same way. It's pointless to attempt to generalize people from LI or from NYC.
I dont know why people don't go out and get a life stop arguing over the differences between LI and NYC

islam

A religion that is in desperate need of a Renaissance or Age of Enlightenment. Islam is a religion that shares the same beliefs and core foundations of Judaism and Christianity, but affirms that Muhammad is the final Prophet of God. Muslims are not bad people, but Islam never had a renaissance (similar to the Protestant Reformation in Christianity) and Muslims need to rethink about the way they deal with the rest of Humanity. Muslims are overall nice and kind people and many muslims are now changing the way they approach Islam. Many muslims (myself included) realize that all religions are personal faiths and that ISLAM NEEDS TO BE TREATED AS A PERSONAL FAITH AND NOT A POLITICAL DOCTRINE. Peace at home and Peace in the world!
We are secular Muslims, and secular persons of Muslim societies. We are believers, doubters, and unbelievers, brought together by a great struggle, not between the West and Islam, but between the free and the unfree.
We affirm the inviolable freedom of the individual conscience. We believe in the equality of all human persons.

We insist upon the separation of religion from state and the observance of universal human rights.

We find traditions of liberty, rationality, and tolerance in the rich histories of pre-Islamic and Islamic societies. These values do not belong to the West or the East; they are the common moral heritage of humankind.

We see no colonialism, racism, or so-called “Islamaphobia” in submitting Islamic practices to criticism or condemnation when they violate human reason or rights.

We call on the governments of the world to

reject Sharia law, fatwa courts, clerical rule, and state-sanctioned religion in all their forms; oppose all penalties for blasphemy and apostacy, in accordance with Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human rights;
eliminate practices, such as female circumcision, honor killing, forced veiling, and forced marriage, that further the oppression of women; protect sexual and gender minorities from persecution and violence;

reform sectarian education that teaches intolerance and bigotry towards non-Muslims;

and foster an open public sphere in which all matters may be discussed without coercion or intimidation.

A woman should be free to dress modestly as she please, to wear a headscarf if she chooses. She should not be forced to veil against her own free will.

We demand the release of Islam from its captivity to the totalitarian ambitions of power-hungry men and the rigid strictures of orthodoxy.

We enjoin academics and thinkers everywhere to embark on a fearless examination of the origins and sources of Islam, and to promulgate the ideals of free scientific and spiritual inquiry through cross-cultural translation, publishing, and the mass media.

We say to Muslim believers: there is a noble future for Islam as a personal faith, not a political doctrine;

to Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Baha’is, and all members of non-Muslim faith communities: we stand with you as free and equal citizens;

and to nonbelievers: we defend your unqualified liberty to question and dissent.

Before any of us is a member of the Umma, the Body of Christ, or the Chosen People, we are all members of the community of conscience, the people who must chose for themselves.

Love Island

Love Island is a reality TV show where a bunch of young fame-seekers jet off to paradise to 'have the summer of their lives'. Their dream summer consists of kissing and shagging their way to the finale where the winning couple will be awarded a fat check which will undoubtedly be spent on even more cosmetic procedures. Life after Love Island involves selling nutrition shakes on Instagram and getting booked to entertain drunken idiots at night-clubs every other weekend. This is as far as their fame will take them and the 'Islanders' usually fade out of the spotlight before the next annual season of Love Island begins. Tragic.

People who choose to watch Love Island are chubby wannabe's that will fall victim to their IQ dramatically decreasing with each episode that they watch. Also, tragic.
Average-looking Girl: I want to be on Love Island!

Average-looking Girl: Well no, I-
