Key jangling goes back to how a parent would jangle their keys in front of their baby to make them laugh or to distract them, which often works however, eventually becomes stale and unfunny over time as the baby would simply get tired and annoyed of the same material.
This term actually comes from one of Huggbees (A YouTube channel) videos titled: "The Forgotten Absurdist Comedy" from 0:20s onwards. He describes how:
"The current trend of comedy from sources such as YouTube, skits and TV shows coming from awkward dialogue, awkward characters and awkward pauses tends to just be one joke that they stretch for about 20 minutes to you."

"Modern internet memes are the comedy equivalent of this:" *proceeds to be a key jangler and jangles his keys in front of the camera while reeling YouTubes vast meme compilations behind him*
