holland is what most ppl from outside and inside the netherlands call the netherlands (becaus there is where most of the country and the busness is located in the north and zuid of holland)

however the netherlands consist of 13 states (for lack of a better word) and calling anyone outside of north or zuid holland a 'hollander' can be seen as a insult

and yes holland is know for the legal weed, pot and ho`s and also it mostly freethinking way of doing things.

the dutch and dutch is not german and too call a dutch(wo)man a german will not be taken kindly by most
