Nerd baiter

A person who uses pop culture, such as comic books, novel and film franchises (e.g marvel, Star Wars, LOTR, etc) to lure unsuspecting real fans into their clutches or to trick others into thinking they are alternative. They do this with the goal of receiving attention from others, typically a nerd baiter can be identified by asking anything more than surface level knowledge about the fandom in which they claim to subscribe to.

Friend 1: Dam bro look at this girl, she’s way into Star Wars, how cool

Friend 2: Nah bro, she’s just a nerd baiter, she couldn’t even recite the entirety of the tragedy of earth plaguise the wise. What a faker.
