When a person offers themselves up as an apologist for anyone onto whom they can project a victim identity. This is common among narcissistic "White ally" anti-racists who lack the courage of their convictions, and instead seek a purely performative alternative to surrendering their own privilege.

She was willing to stoogefy herself on behalf of a dishonest colleague, solely because the colleague was a member of a visible minority group.
