1) An island in South Korea famous for its hunting dogs and a tidal festival.

2) A dog from the island: Spitz breed (husky-like) that is usually between 30 and 50 pounds, white or red (sometimes other colors), really only likes one person or family. Some look enough like dingos or wolves to give old people a scare. First brought to the US in the 1980's by Korean immigrants and US soldiers stationed in Korea.
