The act of checking your mail, facebook and twitter accounts, checking out the new additions to lolcats, failblog, roflrazzi and urban dictionary, checking nhl and ufc highlights, etc, all while your teacher is lecturing you, hoping that some of the talk that is washing over you will stick in your head.

Verbal Origami

Where one person, can take what appears to be very ordinary words, and change them within the blink of an eye into a new meaning (generally an insult). It is an amazing art form, almost MacGyver-like.

Female (to husband): Do you like my new haircut?
Husband:Yeah, I really like it now!
Female:What do you mean now! Are you saying it was cr*p before?
Husband: Damn Verbal Origami

Female (to husband): We’ll probably go over to Mum’s this Sunday night for dinner.
Husband:OK.
Female:What do you mean I take after my Mum – what are you saying?
Husband:(…WTF???? Verbal Origami).

verbal typo

A verbal typo is when someone says something other than what they wanted to say in the first place. It is most often a switching of prefixes between two words, such as "chicking tock" instead of "ticking clock". It can also be an entirely different word that just sounds the same. Verbal typos occur a lot, and can happen to anyone at any given time.

John: Damn, I can't concentrate. That chicking tock is so annoying!
Jane: What's a chicking tock?
John: Sorry, ticking clock. Just made a verbal typo.

Verbal Hook-Up

A conversation that was meant to be 5 minutes long but lasted an hour or more. I this conversation there is maximum eye contact, the feeling of butterflies in your stomach, and possibly a tingling sensation in your genitalia.

Person 1: Yo, I just had a verbal hook-up with Brittany.
Person 2: No way man she doesn't give anyone the time of day.
